DiS asked some of the makers of some of our albums of the year, as well as some of our tips for next year, what they want for Christmas. As we expected time off seems to be top of a lot of non-stop touring bands lists...
Scott Hutchison from Frightened Rabbit: Loads of meat, loads of booze, and a cardigan.
Randy from No Age: A guitar that isn't broken
Howling Bells: A good holiday back to Australia with our families. It is always a long time between seeing them. Also anything else that comes along with that being sunshine, beach.
Aaron Pfenning from Chairlift: Egg nog and sweaters, naturally.
Caroline Polachek from Chairlift: A vacation!
Pink eyes from Fucked up: All I want for Christmas are a few books, a couple records and to be off tour.
Katie from Sky Larkin: That the broken heater in our van is fixable, otherwise its going to be a chilly January 2009!
Nestor from Sky Larkin: Call me lame, but I'm just really looking forward to hanging out with my friends at home. We've been so busy these past 6 months that I feel like a stranger in my own home town! Oh, and a pony...
Doug from Sky Larkin: For Christmas I'm getting time at home, I'm not sure how I feel about it but I'm slowly adapting.
Daniel Stricker from Midnight Juggernauts: For it to snow - but that's pretty much impossible down here [in Australia]
Darren from We Have Band: Peace and quiet! I'm not a big fan of the Christmas madness. Its nice if its done without too much expectation but it often just seems like people running around buying things they can afford and they don't need. I feel bad for people because you can really see the pressure in their face. The week between xmas and new year is my favourite of the whole year when you can just chill out and think about whats gone and what coming next.
Jonathan Meiburg from Shearwater: Besides a real, enforceable international agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions? Hm. Maybe a hiking trip to Bhutan or Surinam.
Volker aka Hauschka: I hope that my kids will get in touch with all the things that are important to me and that they experience life with the same pleasure.
Dean from No Age: I am jewish.

Huh.
I really like the Shearwater album, but the guy from them seems like a bit of a dick. Or is he being ironic?

Yeah, me too! I mean, I laughed, not I'm Jewish.
